“The night is my day” is a project that deals with the night as a mythical space – time that is forbidden for women not only socially but as a taboo that pervades the psyche.

While the night carries all the connotations of unleashed desire, danger of the unknown, the area of the unconscious, the sexual, a site for sleepwalkers and curious wonderers, exclusively for men, it also marginalizes the presence of women turning them into objects of fantasy woven with desire or danger and violence.

The night in a way creates its own defiant characters, lonely, wondering, in search for something in the dark, conquerors of the unconscious. These photographs place women at the center of these fantasies, in a way trying to create the mythical space of night where women are allowed to “dreamwalk”, walk out the estrangements of daily life. Locked in this space are wonderers trying to reclaim their place.
